"A day in the life"

If you expected to read more about this Beatles song you were wrong :-) Although I prefer the cover of Sting I will concentrate here on a day of triathlete and swimming training.

Recently I did a test - 10 x 100m with full speed, 1 minute rest between each lap. The heart rate profile looks as follows:

You can clearly see that the last lap was the highest effort. Why? I changed the style from TI (Total Immersion) to standard free style. The main difference between this two styles is the work of legs. In TI leg strokes have just to secure the stability of the body where in the classic free style they are the propeller. In the last lap I gained just 2 seconds comparing to the average of the previous 9 laps, so the significantly raised effort did not bring the expected added value.
In my opinion if you are an amateur triathlete and have to get on the bike and run after swimming I suggest to try TI.
